- Banner ads can be placed in selected areas of many publication sites, together with links to the client homepage, journal proceedings, and more.
- Banner ads and online sponsorships provide vast exposure to your target audience with measured results.
Positions and Dimensions
Five positions are offered, with a rotation of up to three ads in each. Banner types 4 and 5 can support rich media.

Banner 1: Tile ad: 120x60 pixels
Left-hand navigation bar (appears on all of the newspaper’s Web pages)

Banner 3: Horizontal banner: 335x80 pixels
Bottom of Home Page and Table of Contents only (does not appear on any additional pages)

Creative Specifications
- Banners 1, 2 and 3
- Required resolution: 72 dpi
- Acceptable file format: GIF or JPEG
- File Size: 15K maximum
- 8K to 10K, preferred
- Color palette: 216 (for GIF files)
- Rotation: Accepted
- Animation: Maximum 3 loops of animation, up to 7 seconds of duration
- Impression target, click-through URL and estimated start/end dates must be provided for each ad before posting
- Banners 4 and 5 (Rich media positions)
- Required resolution: 72 dpi
- Acceptable file format: GIF,JPEG, rich media (e.g., Flash)
- File Size: 30K Maximum
- Smaller files will load more quickly for end user
- No additional charges for extra handling by DART team
- Large files may require compression to send via e-mail
- Color palette: 216 (for GIF files)
- Creatives with a white background must have a border to distinguish the ad in an effective and efficient way.
- Rotation: Accepted

Rich media ads
- The leaderboard and wide skyscraper ads can support rich media (e.g., Flash).
- Acceptable file types for rich media are .fla and .swf .
- All Flash files must be submitted with a backup .gif or .jpg file AND the target URL.
- Submitting the back up file (gif or jpg) ensures that an ad will be delivered if the user’s computer does not support Flash.
